2026 Birds Of Prey Photography Experience

Join award winning wildlife photographer Steve Race on a 3 hour Birds of Prey Photography Experience at the National Centre for Birds of Prey in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

We have exclusive access to a wide range of iconic native and worldwide raptors in the idyllic setting of Duncombe Park Estate, Helmsley situated in the North York Moors National Park.

The experience will be tailored towards beginners and enthusiasts. We will look at the techniques and equipment needed to photograph birds of prey and advice and tips will be given on how to get that perfect wildlife image. You will learn about correct exposure, how to deal with tricky lighting conditions such as harsh sunlight or low light levels, and depth of field techniques to compensate for the expanse of open parkland and woodland.

The NCBP holds a large collection of raptors including Steller's Sea Eagle, Grey Buzzard Eagle, White-tailed Sea Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Common Buzzard, Harris Hawk, Lanner Falcon, Merlin, Kestrel, European Eagle Owl, Great Horned Owl, Burrowing Owl and Yellow Billed Kite. During the photography experience a number of these species will be available to be photographed as both static and flying shots.

We will have our own private flying display to look at the techniques of flight photography and capture some stunning images of Owls, Eagles, Hawks and Falcons in flight.

Group Size: 12 maximum.

Includes: Tuition, personal falconer, private flying display and all day admission to NCBP.

Facilities: The NCBP includes a shop, cafe, toilets, picnic area and offers the largest collection of birds of prey in the north of England.
