The northern Yorkshire Dales are a wonderful place for birding. Distinctly different from rest of the National Park.
The heather clad moorlands of the Nidderdale AONB, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lie on the eastern perimeter of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Originally not included at the formation of the National Park, Nidderdale and surrounding areas were granted AONB status in 1994.
On the tour we visit hidden valleys amongst the upland moors and delve into the adjacent wetlands of the Lower Ure Valley. The area has become one of the most important places for the Hen Harrier in northern England. A small population of the exotic Mandarin Duck is also resident here.
