2019 Through The Seasons - Bird Watching And Nature Photography

Following on from the success of our previous workshops, we’re offering the chance to photograph nature through the seasons on The Drewton Estate in South Cave, East Yorkshire with visits to other fabulous locations.

Priced at just £90.00 per workshop with one each in spring, summer and autumn – this package represents great value for money and is the perfect gift for a loved one, friend or family member.

The workshops will be hosted by Yorkshire Coast Nature’s award-winning wildlife photographer Steve Race, who will endeavor to lead the group to get ‘up close and personal’ with the local wildlife.

The price includes a fabulous Drewton’s dining experience with breakfasts, buffets and afternoon tea in various locations on the estate; access to private gardens and areas of the estate; the unique opportunity to photograph nature throughout the seasons; and visits to other local beauty spots, such as North Cave Wetlands and Little Wold Vineyard.

A limited number of places are available.

Sunday 12th May…. SPRING

Meet for 9.00am at Drewton’s for tea/coffee and BLT sandwiches. The morning will be spent at YWT North Cave Wetlands Nature Reserve, using the hides to photograph the spring migrant birdlife. This will be followed by a delicious traditional Afternoon Tea at 12.30pm, back at the Farm Shop. In the afternoon session, the group will visit Little Wold Vineyard in South Cave. This is a great new opportunity to receive an introductory talk from the owners, about the vineyard and history, and to see the varieties of young vines coming into blossom. The group will have their cameras poised and ready to admire the views with any passing buzzards and red kites, and there will be the chance to photograph new insects and wildlife that inhabit the vineyard. You will return to the Farm Shop at 4pm.

Sunday 11th August…. SUMMER

Summer berries, yoghurt and homemade granola with coffee/tea on arrival at 9.00am. The group will spend the morning studying the Red Kites. The group will take the short trip to see the Drewton kites and look at the photographic opportunities on offer. In the afternoon, the group will head back to Little Wold Vineyard with a Drewton’s Deli Picnic*, where the grapes will have grown and the vines are tall. There will be an abundance of insects, including ladybirds, butterflies and spiders, along with wild flowers to photograph. A great opportunity to hear what’s happened since the May visit and to learn the art of pruning the different grape varieties. You will also enjoy a ‘tasting’ of the award-winning wines being produced, before returning to the Farm Shop at 4pm! (*please bring along a picnic rug or folding chair?)

Sunday 10th November…. AUTUMN

Sausage sandwiches and tea/coffee will await your arrival at 9.00am, before the group returns to YWT North Cave Wetlands in the hope of viewing the migrant birds and other thriving wildlife. You will then return to The Drewton Estate at 12pm, for hot soup and sandwiches. There will be good opportunities to photograph the local wildlife and enjoy the autumnal colours of the Estate. The course will finish at 3pm with a Bonfire Tea at a private home on The Drewton Estate, where Steve will welcome the opportunity to go through photographs; as the Workshops draw to a close for another year!
